Ceud Mìle Fàilte: A thousand welcomes! An evening of Highland culture awaits that is guaranteed to both pull at your heartstrings and set your toes a-tapping.
With Alistair MacLeod’s award-winning novel No Great Mischief in hand, join us in a stirring journey through the Gaelic musical culture of Cape Breton and Québec. Readings from the novel by the author will be accompanied by renditions of Gaelic songs and stepping by Tess LeBlanc and by lively fiddle music by Louis-Simon Lemieux.
The evening promises a memorable taste of the way the novel celebrates the interweaving of past and present – of peoples, languages, cultures, song, and spoken word. Hosted by Elspeth Tulloch, professor of Canadian Literature, Université Laval. Presentation in English. Bilingual question period.
